Haha, i know avid hates me know. I have way too many problems. If you guys already know from my past posts, I got avid finally working just not with the mojo, but atleast it talks to the deck now. The thing that I did to fix that was the 6 to 4 pin adapter was bad I guess. I thought that was the whole problem but the mojo still isn't working, I even tried our second mojo and that dont work. So im hoping that we can get the shop to just go ahead and purchase Adobe Premiere Pro, screw avids problems. BUT.. right now it does work fine except that it takes forever to start up. Sometimes 3 minutes. sometimes 5 minutes. Right now its been like 8 minutes looking at the "Reading "Avid Settings" screen, it usually will work eventually but just takes so long. Anyone know why that could be? I even tried trashing the database and everything. That just makes it take longer. I wish I could pin point this problem but I have troubleshooted with hopefully the best of them and no luck.

I feel your pain, I'm currently banging my head on my desk because Avid is a POS imop.

I've used FCP for years, and this certain edit my producer wanted on Avid (he likes avid and hates macs) and I have had nothing but trouble with this damn thing.

I have no idea (even with the Adrenaline) how this software is an industry leader. It constantly crashes, has almost no support, and any settings you change either do nothing or lock it up.

Actually, that sounds alot like windows, an industry leading pos as well. Guess the two are suited together:happy:

Good luck, I think we both need a litte of it.

Yeah man, I sware Vegas Video never gave me any problems ever before plus can support any video or image format I can throw at it. I love that about vegas. I think I might turn to Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 right now. Mainly because the Air Force is supposedly gonna standardize what it uses and Avid is crap from what I hear at other bases as well!

Hey, Skettalee,

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your Avid system. They really are terrific editors when you get the kinks out.

I know a great Avid employee who works with government and military customers out of DC. He was a military videographer as well. Contact me via the private messages with your info and I'll have him give you a shout. I'll bet he can help you with the issues you mentioned.

Regards,

i use xpress pro hd. on startup it may freeze or reboot the whole machine. it helps to delete a file called "avidexpresspro" (no spaces) in the registry. sometimes also a file called "current version" can be deleted.
hope that helps.
