Go35Pro Footage

Why the FD -- You don't have any Nikons, or you prefer Canons?

no reason really. i honestly havent a single clue as to why to go with canon versus nikon. only reason right now is my dad still has a canon lens from when he used to do photography so i thought id save a couple bucks right away.

but in terms of lenses, i know there is already a thread, but the lower the number, the deeper the depth of field or the shallower?

the footage i see with most adapters have a slightly too shallow depth of field for my taste, but it really depends on if your doing closeups or long shots. cause alot of long shots in film have most of the gframe in focus. thats nice mixed in with the closeups with short depth.

yo brotha, what do you do to solve the flip issue? attach one of those mirrors to your lcd screen or upside down monitor?

oo triple post time

actually was kinda a favor to ask if you find the time within the next few days

would you mind doing a test, anywhere, doesnt really matter, perhaps indoors would be best. but doign a test with both your adapters, set your camera on a tripod and keep your camera settings the same . shoot footage with both adapters without adjusting for lightloss ( i mean adjust it for the more sensitive one, which i imagine is the pro glass ) and then shoot the same thing again, without adjusting the fstop or shutter speed to compare the lightloss and quality ?

That kind of test is a good idea but I just have not had the time to do it yet. I wanted to get it done yesterday but I was running late as it was and so the testing ran short. I'll get to it at some point.

I asked about Nikon vs. Canon because I have the Nikon mounts on the way, but the FD might take a little time yet.

Even still, I think I might be able to crank out a few beta units of the Pro that will work nearly as well as the release model. I'd of course offer a free trade-up to the release model to beta testers. I'm going to be working on making this happen today. Once you see the quality of the DVX footage, you'll see why I'm so excited.

Speaking of which... this is just under four minutes and about 52mb. It is the DVX with the 80-200 zoom, just the setup play that Timur and I did fooling with the lens. There's slight vignetting and chromatic aberration, especially on the white t-shirts of the guys in the background, and I suspect this is due to the cheap +10 macro used in the setup. Oh well...

Oh, and the flip issue is "solved" by attaching a small rare earth magnet to the side of the LCD, just below the pivot hinge. It sticks there by itself, automagically, though some gaff wouldn't hurt.

Oh god..... i am so not cool......

Thanks for picking the few scenes where you look cool and i look like a dork jim...........

lol

It looks great though.

Hey guys. The footage looks really great, but why didn't you film the motorcycle guy now that he was there? :-)

Well, we were suspect enough -- two grown men lugging this massive camera around and climbing all over sand hills and a CAT bulldozer... it was obvious these guys were "too cool" for that sort of thing, so I never thought to approach them :)

New clip. This is with the DVX, Nikon 50mm at mixed exposures from f/2.8 to f/11. At around 60mb, it's a doozy.

I did very minor CC to this -- just a color curves to crush the blacks a little and bring out the mids:

Here are Timur's DVX settings for the Go35Pro:

I set up the camera with the following settings which may have helped draw out the resolution from the image, and would really help make it POP.

Detail +7
Vdetail +7
Detail coring +7
Chroma level +7
Master Ped -5
Cinegamma D
Cine matrix
Skin DTL ON ( which in my theory, helps lessen the Grain on the faces and other solid colors)

I'm shipping each unit with two. Look around for "rare earth magnet" -- make sure whichever you get, keep it small and you should have no problems. There already is a magnet in the screen, you're just reversing its pull.

im thinking im going to want to get me one of the lower pricem odels.

just have to find me some lenses for a good price. anyone?
