Go pro hero and GH1 & 2

I'm thinking of adding a Go Pro hero to an upcoming production with our GH13's & GH2's. The specs don't look to impressive 15Mbits H264 codec might be a bit weak to match up with the GH's. However the size might be perfect . Any thoughts?

I've used Gopros for years and have 5 of the new HD models. Colors are great and wide angle is terrific for POV shots. 720p at 50/60fps is this cameras sweet spot as the 1080p suffers bad jello and little res gain. As always the best video is from good lighting and the Gopro is optimized for bright outdoor situations like snow and is very forgiving when pointed in the suns direction.

I run the largest Gopro User forum with 3000+ members with tons of info, DIY mods, etc, you're welcome to join us. http://goprouser.freeforums.org

I bought a Contour GPS a couple of months ago. I am not saying it is better than the Go Pro.
I like it for what it is supposed to do, giving a POV and not requiring active operation, although I like to be able to move direction to get a more varying view on the surroundings.

The quality of my videos is clearly less than of a GH1, hacked or not.

You may see for yourself.

What do you want to use the Go Pro for?

The GoPro is excellent in doing what it was designed for (outdoors shooting in the elements). The picture quality is very good and will match up to the GH cams pretty well. It just needs a lot of light - the image doesn't look very good at all when things get dim and the gain kicks in. Highly recommended for crazy angle shots that no other camera can get.

agreed, its at its best outdoors with lots of light. indoors its useless. it has its place where no other camera can go. if the shot is impressive enough in terms of creativity and capturing the users attention, matching is usually an afterthought for a viewer.

I think i might sign up to that forum Rambo =)

I'v used it to good success for concert shooting when you have a good amoutn of stage ambient lighting. It's great on a guitar or near a keyboard.. Even if it's grainy it's an amazing shot.. I also think for a a waterproof camera it's really hard to beat...
