GM goodwrench promotional video

The project was originally due in early 2006, then I got a phone call on a lonely september morning saying they needed a video by october 14th. Fun stuff... I can assure you. I probably spent two dedicated weekends filming, on top of a few days here and there lugging my camera around on freeways in order to find the right aesthetic for the street sign shots.

I edited it in Vegas, did a lot of photoshop and after effects work with it, and then authorized it with DVD architect. It was my first time really using After effects, up until then I had been completely terrified of it (partically because I despise adobe Premiere so much I figured whenever Adobe touches video applications babies begin to cry). The countdown was done using the number effect in AE and then setting it as Timecode, then just setting enough timeline space for 36 seconds. I used a pocket calculator font and added some glow for the effect.

So it was about a months worth of work - once I got into editing it was a lot of all-nighters and pretty focused work. Not too much fun when I've got school as well.

All in all, i've learned such an unfathomable amount on this shoot. I made plenty of mistakes that i'll never make again, I feel like I now biblically 'know' the DVX. It's just.... very exciting.

Thanks again. If you have ANY questions or want more detailed answers... i'll be here.

I like the cutting in the begining. It's hard to make these types of videos exciting, but someone has to do it... right? haha. good job.

I really didn't care much for cars before this, now i'm all about customer retention... haha.

JCVR, who did the voice over? Did you write the dialog? How long did you sit taping the freewy off ramp to get the shot of no one turning off? I just watched it again. I like it!
