Ive seen a couple of videos where all the white is glowing.
like on rap videos but also some examples on rock/hardcore videos on here.

you know makes people in white look holy, that kind of effect but not so intense/cheesy.

does anyone know how I can get that 'white glow' look?

I use premiere pro and aftereffects..is there a plug in? or a setting in the prog? I facked up and over lit my last shoot, I'm hoping if i can sort of make it kinda glowing bleached out I might salvage something.

Thanks guys,
Adam.

On set, you can use a backlight to get a glow around people. Sorry I don't know about a post effect.

i don't know about premiere, but Vegas has a built in "Glow" plug-in that works pretty well and is easy to use. You could check that out.

One thing you can try is duplicating the clip so it's layered on itself.
Set transfer mode (composite mode) to Screen.
Blur this top layer and play with Levels so the brights spread out.

scott that sounds viable and similar to an idea I had in my head, I was hoping to just find a setting, Ill have a play around when I get in from the office, If anyone knows of a plug in (AE premiere) and could be kind enough to help me out it would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much guys,
Adam.

In the Myers Creating Motion Graphics book V1 (latest edition) for After Effects they include a couple animation presets called Instant Sex on the DVD that adds the glow your looking for. The method of duplicating the clips desrcibed above works well also but I use the preset more often because it's easier and looks great.

AE 6.5 pro and im not sure about standard has a "glow" effect. PPRO with the matrox rtx 100 xtreme pro has a "soft focus" effects that can vbe used to make things glow. Cycore effects that ship with AE 6.5 pro has a couple lighting effects which work similar to trapcodes "shine for streaking glow effects and can be used in PPRO. suggestions in above posts are great.

Another trick is to double layer the video, put the clear picture on the bottom, and blur the second layer, and blend them together either by setting the opacity or blending effects...

guys thanks so much for all your help,
I basically had a disaster shoot where i was a total mug.

I was shooting under regular fluro lighting but to fill I went down and got a 4ft 4 bank and a 2ft 4 bank kino flow kit with daylight bulbs. plonked the lights down and turned them on, (with a little fiddle to light the room which was basically all BS i washed the whole scene out) what was worse I made a knarly mix of rank blue and dirty yellow, when what I WANTED was clean white with a little green spike.

as you can imagine I was pretty upset when capturing, pulling in all this horrible horrible footage.

ive basically just spent 2 hours in pro, tweaking, taking out colours and moving blues into yellows. then I layered up in AE using the techniques outlined in those tutorials and finally I have something that I can look at and be pleased with, its not perfect but a HELL of a lot better than before.

I'll have to put some before and after screens up once Ive done all the post.

I hate that feeling capturing, that has to be the worst part of a project Im always thinking "im the worst! why do i even bother!!"

thank god for digital, and thank god for colour correction.

Digital Fusion has a nice glow tool with some modes like Highlights only and color/ threshold, size and other adjusts... I use it all the time with nice results.
