glidecam with 40

i am planning on purchasing the hmc40 by mid fall or late (november is my deadline)

i have a friend who shoots with the 7d and loves using the glidecam. i am thinking about purchasing the glidecam HD2000 along with my purchase of this camera

do any of you use a steadicam (glidecam, merlin) if so, how are they and which would you recommend for sports/short films
