GH4 Glidecam HD2000 or alternative?

I'm looking to finally invest in a stabilizer system like the Glidecam HD-2000. I'm also doing research and stumbled upon some cheaper alternatives like the Wield or the Waing P-095 stabilizer system. Any reviews on which is easier for set-up and works better? Thanks!

I love my HD-1000 .... When looking at the cheaper knock-offs make sure that they have fine adjustment knobs. That is the nice thing about the glidcams, you can fairly quickly rebalance with a few thumb screws and knobs instead of trying to reseat the cam ...

Is the HD-1000 better for the GH4? My set-up would have a 12-35 or 14-140 and maybe a rode mic at the top.

We had a GH4 + 17mm Voigtlander on a Glidecam HD2000 and a T2i + 14mm Rokinon and BOTH balanced exactly the same without needing to shift the gimbal!

I am not sure about better but it does work. I typically fly the GH3 + 12mm f2.0 (sometimes the 14-140mm if I am outside) on the HD-1000. Sometimes a VMP on top or a LED light panel but normally just the camera.

I am looking forward to getting a brushless gimbal at some point but they are still about 5x the cost.

Good luck.

I should have the Came 7800 very soon and will let you know what I think.

Different tool than the Glidecam, but useful just the same.

I have like 3 different Glidecam devices and had set money aside for a 3-axis gimbal but after seeing that SteadXP mini-box thing, I'm holding off. That thing would be awesome, if it works as advertised.

I'll second the HD-1000. Nice and compact and balances my GH3, 12-35, and Rode Videomic Pro. I've been using it for years and it's one of my most gratifying investments. I will say that the other stabilizer I would look at (besides the brushless gimbals) is the Blackbird. It looks like it is more scaleable for weight, and I liked the feel of it from testing it out awhile back.

That SteadXP looks pretty cool but I bet it needs a pretty big crop to get such good results. I guess with 4k you can pretty easily live with a big crop though ...

My review of the Came 7800 will be pushed back a week. It was suppose to be here today, but looks like FedEx will not deliver till Friday.

Glidecam makes a great sled, I know of some that use this with steadicam gear to save a few bucks.

It will get heavy fast! Vest and arm are the way to shoot more than a few minutes...
