Glidecam 4000/hvx200 settings?

anyone care to share their settings with me? How many weights did you use at the bottom? How far did you extend the telescoping post?

I'm using it without any accessories right now, and just bought a bogen quick release plate to make it easier to re-install the camera.

Any tips would be great.

Kenny,
I too had initial troubles configuring my Glidecam 4000 with my HVX. It really depends on your use. With my mic and shoemount, my adjustments totally switch. So with just the HVX (like you're using) I usually have 3 weights on the front and 2 weights on the back. Obviously you have to adjust for the x asix (left and right) if you plan on using your LCD screen. The z axis (forward and backward) really relates somewhat to how the weights are placed on the bottom of the sled. I extend my sled all the way (without losing a tight connection). So there you have it. I never can hit that 2 second mark on the dot, always 30 seconds short or fast.
Hope this helps,

Also,
Let me put a plug for the support vest. Although my arm boils (okay an exaggeration) with pain after using my Glidecam 4000 for longer than 15 minutes... Do get yourself the velcro arm support. If you plan on using it for longer than an hour at a time (i.e. wedding videography), do invest in the Smooth Shooter or the X-10 system. X-10 hasn't even been released yet, but it has a dual arm in comparison to Smooth Shooters single arm. If you want more of an explanation about this, just post or PM.

thanks bro! i planned on buying the arm and vest, but wanted to see if i could support the rig without it for my purposes. uh, it was a no go!! lol..
and i work out regularly!

i did get it close, but had to disassemble it anyway, to install a quick release plate, which is madatory to me. I hated the idea that i would have to re-balance this thing everytime i took the camera off.

Technically, any time you adjust anything you'd have to do the minor readjustments. I barely use my glidecam now until I get an arm. So arm wise it's either a Merlin system or the X-10 GL4000 combo for me! I really want a Steadicam Flyer though! That way I can use my rails system with my sled and what not. PM if you need anything.
