I have the AF100, looking at buying a stabilizing system with vest and arm.

Most likely going to have the af100 with either a voigtander 25mm, zeiss planar 50mm or a tokina 11-16.

Question is for those of you with expereince with stabilizers is the glidecam 2000 good enough to support this. Would you go for duall support or is the smooth shooter enough?

Glidecam 200 is pushing my budget so I can' afford a 4000, but I would rather not get it at all if its not the right kit for the job. I tried looking at other brands like flycam 5000, but from previous discussions online, the flycam 5000 is no good. Is this your same view?

Cheers,

Sean.

I have the smooth shooter with the 2000, it works very well.

Its maxed out with two sennheisers and one Swit with canon battery. And I Only use the Lumix 14-42, when I set it to 1m and f3,5 14mm, everything from one meter is in focus, and if its bright I set it to f10. Then its focus guaranty.

I have a Glidecam 4000 with smooth shooter (first generation). Started using it with a DVX100. then HVX200, and now with 5D. I would go with the 4000, mainly because it would give you headroom for heavier lenses, matebox, monitor, etc. The price difference is not that much.

I agree

The 2000 will be close to the max weight with the AF100 mounted. It is possible to overload the 2000 with the addition of extra weights to balance as I don't think the AF 100 is too far out of range. At most you might need to install a longer lower post to extend the weights a little further down, and add maybe two extra washers. It will just take some trial and error to get the balance right, but there's no reason it can't work. Most likely just the extra weights will do it (there's actually not too much difference between the 2000 and the 4000 other that beefing up the rig a bit, but the gimbals are the same). And you're quite right about the Flycam, keep away from them.
