Glidecam 2000 Pro help

I was putting my Glidecam 2000 together and ran into a problem. It seems the telescopic base rod does not fit into the gimble rod coorectly. Yes, the adjustment knob is loose. I also loosened the screw above the knob. I know it is supposed to fit smoothly. What might be wrong?

Although you have now loosened up the clamps, make sure the down tube never accidentally got deformed. If it arrived to tight, even though the clamps have now been loosened by you, having a clamp tight near the end of an open tube can easily cause deformation which can affect an easy fit.

Also if you are fortunate enough to have access to a micrometer, measure the diameter of the outside of the base column and the inside of the down tube.

Sometimes excess paint can cause problems with close tolerance fits. Check inside of down tube to make sure it is clean and if the fit is just tight, try some WD-40.

If its really a terrible fit, get it replaced under warranty. I just got my 4000 with smooth shooter and everything checked out. I had some squeaky springs on the control arm but a few shots of WD-40 fixed that right away.

Best of luck.
