hello i would just like to know if it is bad for the dvx if the sun is shining towards it. in the manual it sez not to point directly to the sun but then how do u do those time lapse shots were the sun is moving from one point to another. Also are those 500 watt halogen lights bad for the camera if they are pointing at the lens from sort of far away.
thanks alot.

shadow dog all I can tell you is that I have done it a few times now and dont have any issues with my camera. That said its your own personal risk.

Glare isn't AS BAD for your camera. But it can be.
You can shoot sunsets, etc. but you probably dont want to shoot the sun for a half hour or so at a time.

If you are trying to shoot scenes with the sun moving across the sky, you should be okay- especially if you use a polarizer or maybe an ND filter.

(Rocking chair speeds up...) back in the ollllle days, why we couldn't ever shoot the sun because the tube cameras would burn in, and there'd be an annoying green blob in the screen. The only way to fix it was to shoot an even, bright white surface and try to burn the tube in evenly. AND WE LIKED IT THAT WAY! ( sorry Dana Carvey).

When the first Sony CCD cameras came out, we ran out of the station to shoot stuff like arc welding and sunrises.

Moderation.
