GL2 w/ 10hrs or DVX100A w/ 425hrs?

Assuming I could buy both for the same price...which one do you think that I should get?

Should I be leary about buying a camera with 425 hours on it?

FWIW...this would be my first non-cheapo camera.

Thanks!

Depends on what you want. A nice DV camera without 24p or widescreen that will last you a while... Or a nicer DV camera with 24p and widescreen that will last you maybe 2-3 years without needing a head replacement.

I'd go with the DVX.

Don't let the 425 scare you... I'd be MORE concerned about how the camera aquired those hours. What's the overall condition? if it's a beat up looking camera, I'd shy away. But if it looks to be in imaculate shape, then I'd go with the DVX.

I've shot on both, and I can tell you this: the DVX is a better made, sturdier camera that, even from the factory, would kill the GL2 on a lifespan. The GL2 that I shot on always had small issue's with it and had to be sent back to canon (which is a pain in the arse all it's own).

I know how you feel about the hours. My DVX100A was bought from a rental house with 999 hours on it. I got a fairly good price and i know the owner and if it gives me stick i can get him to service it. It is missing some of the rubber covers and looks pretty beat up. BUT it still shoots perfectly and it is the best money i have ever spent in my life and i do not regret it for 1 instant. Hmmmm progressive hmmmmm.

i believe i would lean towards the dvx...... even with that many hours. the audio options alone aside from frame rate.
