Girl Dances in Bookstore - Shot on A7s

I enjoyed the tones... She blended right in with everything around her. It is also a good thing she is wearing socks because the noise but then again you dub over so... :) The closeup at 1:11 is excellent. If you have the UHD version then you should post it, after all, it won't cost you anything on youtube. Sort off free archiving service. :D

thanks for sharing your creativity.

Nicely done. I like the camera movement and your ability to hold focus is impressive.
Did you use any lights or did you rely on house lights?

Girl can dance!

I dig the overall color palette and crane style shot with her on the floor. The bookcase transitions are also a really nice touch. Would have liked to see some locked off shots on a tripod, and more of a variety with focal lengths(35mm, 50mm 200mm). Overall I think it looks great though, the fluorescent lighting in the library really saved a lot of time and money! Good stuff

What kind of gimbal did you use?

Thank you! Mostly house lights. Had an assistant holding a ring light here and there as a bit of fill but that's it.

Appreciate it! My goal with this video was not to shoot for coverage as I would usually do it (wide, close, medium for any given section) but instead to piece it together in segments and create transitions or easy to follow cuts between the segments. I stuck to 28mm to 45mm range for this because we were in a pretty tight space. The longer focal lengths work really well when doing cutaways to closeups, but with this one it was important to show to the viewer just how impressive she is as a dancer and thus a challenge to myself to do longer takes without the need to cut in order to make it entertaining. Given that bit of info, locked off shots or super long focal lengths can not be sustained for very long, and would increase the number of cuts in the video, which I was so desperately trying to avoid. But I agree with you, there could have been some really amazing closeups in this one, but at the cost of it feeling "real" to the viewer.

Nice stuff Tim. I've seen your videos with Will Adams and crew. Just starting shooting some videos for local dancers up the coast. Dancers make a good subject to work on gimbal movements and the A7S works really well with them.
