Gimbals

So I just purchased my 100b from EVS (Thanks so much, Rush!) and I'm looking to get everything ready to film in a few weeks. I intend to build a steadicam type thing, and have been noticing a lot of talk about how the high-end ones have gimbals. They definitely seem like a huge addition in value, but I haven't been able to find too much on them. Are they available at hardware stores, or is it mostly something that manufacturers have available only to themselves?
Thanks!

A gimble is complicated because not only is it a bunch of bearings allowing rotation in 3 axis, but it should also be very precisely aligned. - so it's not only hard to come by but also takes some work to make a good one.

Unfortuanly they can't be found readily assembled at your local hardware store, however with a bit of creativity, most all of the parts can!

There's loads of great information on gimbles, and other homebuilding in on the homebuilt stabilizers forum too: http://hbsboard.com
There are some seriously tallented builders on that forum.
