Gimbal

No one is using a Gibmal with their DSLR? If that is the case I will be the first and will share what I find out how it works.

I've used gimbals but not with DSLRs. As far as Allsteady is concerned, I supported their Kickstarter campaign but withdrew my funds a week before the deadline. Anything particular you want to ask/inquire about?

Movi M5 works great with DSLRs, but there are more inexpensive options out there too. Have you looked at the Nebula 4000? There is a great thread on it here.

Another suggestion - take a look at Letus Helix

It's another and unique implementation of the gimbal concept. It's advantages are :

- it's not heavy ( significantly less than Ronin and Allsteady but supports up to 16lb as far as I remember - there is a Jr. version now which is about 3.5lb and supports up to 7+ pounds developed for DSLRs). On RU there is a GB offering $200 discount for the Jr version.

- it's not hanging down like typical gimbals including MOVI but rather reminds a tripod setup which gives an advantage of holding the gimbal one foot lower over typical gimbals for the same angle

- due to its design it can be held very close to the chest (cannot do with typical gimbals) thus significantly reducing fatigue.

Although I own and use myself MoVI m10, I tried Helix - it's a very good design, easy to use, reasonable price and Letus as a company offers very good customer support.

Just ordered a Nebula 4000 myself. Probably not for the more weighty DSLR's, but for the lighter ones seems to be working well, after substantial balancing work. And extremely practical as a grab and go stabilizer system.
