I have a few shots in a promo video that will require a stabilizer. I also want a very lightweight portable rig for a low-budget educational shoot that will require a lot of travel a couple of months from now.
I'm trying to decide whether to get the CAME-TV 8000, or is the DJI Ronin worth the extra money? Also, I'm seriously considering a pistol-grip like the CAME-TV single or the Nebula 4000, and then getting another camera to use for the stabilized shots, like the GH4 or the new A7RII. If I get the pistol grip I can use it on the travel job, where I would not be able to take the Ronin and the FS700. I can't afford both, as I need to upgrade my DSLR, and the A7RII and a pistol grip might be a good solution.
Camera issues aside, would the pistol-grip units give me the same smoothness as the Came 8000 and the Ronin, if proper technique is used?
While I've got your attention, maybe someone who's reading has tried something like this before-- There are some shots where attaching the camera to the top of my car would be a perfect solution. I wouldn't go over 30mph, and usually quite slower than that, but I've found that just mounting the camera to the rack gives me too much vibration. Would the CAME-TV Single or the Nebula 4000 (with a smaller camera-- NOT the FS700) be able to do such a thing successfully? Has anybody tried this with the FS700 and the CAME 8000 or the Ronin? -DA
