GHOSTS INTRO - my first short

This is the intro to a short that I made for our grade 11 filming class. We wanted to upload it to the lot competition, but the uploading didn't work for some reason. This is my first short and I would really appreciate any criticism or advice. Please don't mind the quality of the camera, we also didn't have access to a tripod. We were in a huge rush, it was almost a run and gun shoot.

BTW this was shot in the middle of winter and up here in Canada that means -30C + wind. I've learnt soo much from this experience not only in filming making but also about teamwork.

I'm proud of it but every time I watch I hate it more and I can't wait to make another movie, once I scrap up enough money to buy my own camera... I pretty much know where all the mistakes and setbacks are but I dont want to hear any " this is good for your age" kind of thing. I want the cold hard facts... hopefully I can take it.

Thanks (hopefulyy i posted this in the right forum)

I'm sorry dude but I cannot get over this 13 year old detective/homeowner. Some of the titles were hard to read because...well white on white isnt the best colour composition. I also found a lot of dead time making me wonder why I was supposed to care during said scenes. A lot of that is attributed to slow editing and the fact that the mic picked up all those droning sounds. I wish I could see the whole thing though, in case things really started to pick up. I mean I know you dont want to hear this, but for a first film (i dont care how old you are), it was shot competently and I was diggin' the piano. I'm looking forward to see what you've learned for your next one.

is it that bad that i don't use original music?

umm I don't know if you want to see the rest, some of the conversation scenes i didn't exactly know how to shoot, so it turned out really bad. I found out I'm a lot better at montage sort of things. i guess i could put it up but its long and i still have to encode it.

Well obviously the idea is to strive for original music (or have it legally obtained). Ill give you this though: you chose an appropriate track. In the future, an ear for a good music will definately help you on more proffesional scores. I'd love to see the rest if you can find it in you to post it
