Interesting.

It's not really something I personally need, but I guess it's a helpful option to have for some people. I wonder what other kind of bells and whistles this thing will have.

Also with that vent, doesn't look as weather sealed as previous models. No shooting out in the pouring rain anymore like I have with my GH4 I guess.

It’s probably similar to the S1H system which is weather sealed.

Full specs available on 43rumors.com

I’m excited for many of the features to eventually come to the S series cameras but I wonder about the AF performance. Panasonic also needs to launch a EVA2 with L mount.

The biggest news from GH-6 is that it seems to have a sensor either not made by Sony or, at the very least, sensor made by Sony but only for Panasonic. (currently, there's no information either way but Sony itself doesn't even have a listing of a 25 MPX MFT sensor ... Sony doesn't list every sensor, especially if it's made under contract to someone else ... i.e., those made directly for Fuji are not listed either ... although this doesn't stop Fuji from crippling their cameras ... however, on some specs Fuji APS-C do top those of best Sony models ... except the auto focus)

Some YouTubers transition to OnlyFans.

They are usually entertainers or social media influencers.

One took an opposite approach and went from the adult entertainment industry to ASMR and she is pretty successful at it. Another one went from ASMR to OF.

One woman that was a part of an inner circle of some big time YouTubers showed/talked about her account status on OF and how she made over one million dollars in 48 hours after signing up. [Not sure how much OF would take of that, but per usual that business is boomin'.]

It's a sensitive subject, and obviously not for this thread, but the evolution of the video content creation business mixed with social media is pretty fascinating.

Only Fans keeps 20%, with 80% going to the content owner. A much better deal than YouTube. Besides, they're unlikely to throttle.

YouTube did once triy pay-for-play channels. I recall Roger Corman putting up his old library of films there for $4/mo but it never went anywhere. There's some content people will pay for and Roger Corman ain't it.

I was referring to FanOnly they added to the GH6 but I'm well aware of the OnlyFans too. Wow you guys got a one track mind.

That doesn’t necessarily follow. Cars have radiator grills but can be driven into heavy rain at 100 km/h.

It’s probably similar to the S1H system which is weather sealed.

Well that's good to hear. After losing a camera to a downpour I told myself I wasn't going to buy a camera like that type again that wasn't somewhat weather sealed.

How does everyone feel about the ProRes? Why is it never ProRes Raw, is there a special restriction on that or something?

ProRes was a main industry-standard for ~10 years. Mainly in the ARRI Alexa, but as technology improved from everyone, standards have evolved and many formats are now acceptable.

RED owns the patents to internal RAW recording.

Blackmagic and Canon are the only ones that have their own RAW but it's unclear what they are doing and/or what kind of relationships they have with RED.

Kinefinity and DJI recently removed ProRes RAW from their upcoming cameras (likely not by choice).

Sometimes there are exceptions depending on the circumstances (like Atomos being able to offer hardware that does it).

Oh. I didn't know it was raw in general. I thought it was just a certain implementation of raw that they owned a patent on. Maybe ProRes raw is close enough?

Is it strange to anyone else that the guy the runs RED now is the one who started DVXuser, where is he when it comes to questions like this? lol

Probably too close. Apple tried challenging them but lost.

JL popped in on the BMCuser forum a few years ago out-of-the-blue...it was pretty amazing.

His last activity here was in 2014. He has 87,437 posts here so he was around for a bit.

"was"?

As far as I can tell, it still very much "is". Higher-end productions have started to use raw more frequently - but it's by no means become the standard yet. And the lightweight 10-bit/4:2:2 only H264 codecs found in the Canons and Sonys (while more accepted than they were before) still aren't heavy-duty enough to compete (and until they jump to 12-bit 4:4:4 variants they never will.

I think it's brilliant getting Prores in these little mirrorless cameras. Makes the process of using them as additional camera bodies, much less painful to integrate.

Yeah, was...because video production is an everyday commodity now and standards don't hold the same weight they once did.

Although I love ProRes, I would actually disagree when looking at the bigger picture when comparing them to Canon/Sony codecs because various high-quality formats are more than enough for today's fast paced content creation and YouTube delivery.

Now maybe the 1% needs ProRes or RAW but the "industry" isn't only made up of the 1%.

[Also, REDCODE RAW has been around for 10+ years so it was always the industry-standard, and for a while the only option, for those who used those cameras, including the 1%.]

NorBro: I'm never using anything but REDCODE from now on. everything else is trash

also NorBro: who needs ProRes? 10-bit 4:2:2 240Mbps xavc is fine
