GH5 GH5S: Time code input not reading

I know the camera just came out so I'm throwing a dart here but I wanted to see if anyone has had any luck getting TC into the GH5S.

I have a Tentacle Sync that works with the URSA Mini to set TC. When I try to use it with the GH5S it fails to read. At this point I can use the GH5S as a jammer but I cant jam the GH5S.

I did read the instructions and it states the camera cant be in MP4 mode. I have it set to MOV All-I UHD 23.94
 
Hey Eric

Make sure the Tentacle Sync is set all the way to LINE OUT.
I had the same issue as you until I made that change.
Now the GH5s works fine for jam syncing. I can jam it to my 744t or C300 .

I had success today sending and receiving TC with a C300 MKII today. I did learn that turning off the GH5S will cause the TC to drift off a few frames. I set it with the C300 and shut both off for about an hour then did a shoot. The GH5 was 15 frames off.

The Tentacle Sync is new to me. Just got it and I don't know what Line Out is. I see only Green and Red modes. Green sends TC so that's what I set it to. Any help would be great. I actually emailed them today but havent heard bcak yet.

Eric on the link above from video652 you need the app to setup tentacle sync. I use the mac desktop app. When you open the link above and scroll down under extended settings you'll see a screen shot showing output volume - just make sure it's all the way to the right for line level output (then you can use it to either jam sync the GH5s or jam sync to the GH5s)
Plus all the other settings are there like frame rate, timecode start ....

nothing yet been done to the GH5s timecode input ?

It really is useless as it only syncs once when pressing the menu option, but not continuously even with a generator connected

I was really hoping for this feature when I bought one...
 
The time code implementation on the Gh5s is flawed. Resyncying every 20-30 mins is not really a solution. I use tentacles by laying down tc by audio on my gh5. I ultimately sold the Gh5s.
 
The external sync on the GH5/S is just a jam code to set the clock, not continuously syncing, I believe., similar to the AF100.
