GH13 GH5 vs GH4 screen sharpness?

The lcd screen on my gh5 is not quite as sharp as the gh4 and makes it a little harder to determine focus. Does anyone else feel the same way? Maybe I am missing a setting change? I have changed brightness, contrast and monitor luminance as well as different recording formats. The EVF looks awesome.

The GH4 screen would alias when things were in focus and it helped a lot. Because the GH5 screen is higher resolution we don't get that benefit anymore. I am finding my GH5 is a step backwards in certain areas. Autofocus on my 12-35 is slower when not shooting video or when I want to focus before starting the recording.

Are you using peaking? I'm finding it to be better than the GH4.

Yes, I'm seeing the same thing. I was just out shooting the same Wood Duck box with a GH5 and GH4, side by side, and the moire on the grain of the box was very clear on the GH4's LCD screen, but non-existent on the GH5. When I shoot video the resolution of the screen looks like half of that of the GH4, but when I play it back it looks a lot sharper and I can see the moire, so I think the screen is capable of giving us good resolution -- it's almost as though they are displaying a lower rez for recording. I shoot in MF with a loupe 100% of the time, and although focus peaking is great some of the time, if I can see the subject clearly I don't use it as in many instances I can focus more accurately by looking for the "shiny" pixels. I hope there is a firmware fix coming soon.

I wonder why GH5 has no sharpness setting for EVF and screen. It would help shooting because many want to shoot with -5 image sharpness and still monitor focusing.

I think the resolution of these visual aids is too low to make a difference. Plug in a 1080p monitor to your camera and you can see what you're missing when using the built-in displays.

I use added image sharpness when I shoot RAW photos with my GH4. It helps seeing focus and is not affecting RAW images. Of course this is not possible with video. I think it would have been easy to add sharpening function to GH5 display card/FW.
