GH4 GH5 vs BMPCC

GH4 has less noise but darker blacks. It would have been fair to grade the GH4 video more like BMPCC lifting shadows and matching colors or darkening the BMPCC,

Of course the GH4 4k video is better when watching in 4k.

Image quality and dynamic range goes to the bmpcc. But that 4k resolution in the gh4 allows me a special kind of freedom in post that is, in some respects, a lifesaver when it comes to re-framing. I sold my bmpcc cause the gh4 could just do more for me, as a filmmaker and event videographer.

Plus really grew tired of seeing moire on my bmpcc. It popped up too often for my liking.

Perhaps. This was primarily run as an audio test, though. Given all the reviews about the BMPCC's audio, I wanted to make sure adding an external mic would solve that issue.

I feel it does. (At least for my modest needs.)

To be really fair, I was never satisfied with the on-board audio from the GH4 as I was with the GH2, so the plan was always to add an external mic regardless of camera. Using the same mic on both cameras, I expect I'd have gotten the same results.

But the image quality of the BMPCC still trounces that of the GH4, so the Panny is out and BM is in.

Did everyone see the specs on the just announced DJI Inspire 2 X5s camera? Link here: http://www.dji.com/zenmuse-x5s It is going to be a real pisser for me when I get the GH5 knowing that DJI has pretty much the same sensor with raw recording DNG files along with Pro Res. It is a real shame that the new DJI X5s camera is not stand alone. They would probably sell 1000 times more than they will with the mount and drone that you have to have to operate the camera. They may release some type of handlebar system for that mount later so that you can do handheld stuff. The 480G SSD drives for raw recording are $900 a piece, but I could live with that.

There will be a OSMO thingy for sure, i think you're right they will sell them by the truck load if there is a non-aerial version - that will ruffle a few feathers out there.

I was really impressed with the demo.
