GH4 GH5 pre-orders with V-LOG - Rumor?

I pre-ordered a GH5 on the day it was offically annouced from B&H. I keep hearing in forums that V-Log will be included in all GH5 pre-orders. Just to be sure, I checked with B&H - who promptly told me that the V-Log inclusion in pre-orders was a rumor and panasonic has flat out denied this.

is this just a rumor? can someone confirm?

Panasonic USA seems to want to milk the last drop from those who cannot wait, overseas both a free Log option and/or a great package deal with the 12-60mm Leica/Panasonic is offered.

I will wait buying one until some sensible incentives come to the table! And they will!

So, you are not going to buy a GH5 because it does not come with v-log? If I needed it I would just spend the $100. Overseas I would bet those promotions are built into the price and not that great of an incentive. Pricing for the GH4 took a while before it dropped significantly so I would expect similar with the GH5.

I will buy one but at an opportune moment and I do not think that moment is to pre-order it without any specials. I do not expect significant drops but I do expect a rebate, free log or a package deal with the Panasonic/Leica.

I am not in a hurry! :)

Wanting a good deal makes sense unless you need or want it sooner. When I bought my GH4 it was in one of the first shipments to the U.S. so I paid top dollar at $1695. I got about a year's worth of experience shooting 4k which generated some nice income before the price dropped slightly. For me it was a no brainer.

I was told by Panasonic a few weeks before the announcement that V-Log would remain an option in the US. I was also told that there would be a camera/lens kit, but I see no evidence of that coming to the US at the moment. It's possible that the person was just conveying a general policy, without noting that it might be region specific.

I'm still hoping that a kit will be available, but either way expect a camera in the first shipment, with or without a lens.

i believe that if you preorder from a local dealer when they are having an in-person gh5 factory rep show they do give free vlog - at least i have seen this in 2 different stores in USA

I saw a promotion here in Japan offering a choice of extra battery or V-Log L code as a 'present' when pre-ordering at Yodobashi camera, but that's store specific and not a blanket inclusion.

I'd say if you need V-Log, just bite the bullet and buy the code. In the greater scheme of things, it's not a big cost and would be made up the first time you need it for a client. Yes, it sucks that's it's not included as standard, but it's not going to be changed now, otherwise they'd screw over everyone who already bought it.

Cheers,

Paul :)
