GH5 GH5 and manual WB with a small size grey card. help!

Doubt the audio issue will be fixed. Only workaround is to pre-roll.

When I need to capture something very quickly I’ll often hit record before even framing up the shot.

The audio issue has been present on the GH3, GH5, & GH5. Imagine it was also on the GH1, & GH2.

Sorry, but even you get the same my problems with GH5? I mean two problems: 1) the audio is absent in every clip for a few tenths of a second (the audio waves are even missing). 2) Some crunchings in the audio. Maybe do they correct the problem with next firmware or will I have it forever?

A good rule of thumb re missing few frames of audio, as well as shooting digital on any camera IMO is shoot, as if rolling film...that means rolling before and after each take for a couple of seconds as Bern suggests...this of course also applies when using the all important separate sound guy!...

Unsure what the “crunching sound” you describe is caused by.

Are you using an external mic, or the ones built into the GH5? Any onboard mic is going to be less than optimal, but I’d only use the built-in ones for Scratch Tracks.

Not only that missing audio on the early part but many other problems. I use the internat mic. On another forum a guy sent me a clip shot with his GH5 and there the same my problem. ON EVERY clip there a “crunching sound” one second or less than one second before the clip finish. On every clip there is this problem. But not only it. I have many “crunching sound” even in the central part of every clip. I'm very disappointed from GH5.

Internal Mics are never going to sound great, & imagine the GH5’s may pickup the sound of the body’s IS, & possibly the the len’s OIS.

At minimum get yourself an external mic. Rode’s VideoMicro does a decent job, & even outperforms many much more expensive options. It’s small, & powered by the camera, so no need to fuss with additional battery systems.

I prefer 24/25p, but that’s a personal decision, & you should use whatever you prefer.

I thank you for your thought but I'd like to know also your thought. Why do you prefer 24/25p. Usually documentaries are in 50p and I think (but I can make an error) the image has higher definition in 50p. Is it right?
Do you remember what kind of documentaries I make? Click on my firm please.

Plenty of documentaries are made in 24p, & everyone I’ve worked on has been. But that doesn’t mean yours can’t be 50p.

Except for watching sports I don’t like the ‘Live’ look of 50/60p, but that’s simply a personal preference.

Just saw you were inquiring about VLog-L in another thread, & responded you might look at HLG too.

But note you won’t be able to use either of those successfully as the GH5 records UHD 50p internally as 8-bit 4:2:0. VLog-L looks terrible in 8-bit 4:2:0 & I believe HLG is only available in 10-bit.

If your willing to add a recorder the GH5 can output UHD 50p 10-bit 4:2:2 but that doesn’t seem like something you’d want to deal with in remote locations.

Hello, I just got a new lens Lumix 14-140 mm and I noticed that it doesn't have a switch button like the Leica lens 12-60 mm to put it in manual. How could I use it in manual?
Thank you

I found a new software (MX Player Pro) that reads well the files I'm editing in UHD with high bitrate. I use a Sony TV 46". This software is asking me to configure the "color format" and I have 3 options: RGB 16bit, RGB 32bit and YUV. What should I choose?
Thank you!

Configure it for what?
