GH4 GH5 180 FPS Upres to 4K HD

Hate to be the downer, but I guess I have to start here with the advent of 180FPS in Best Buy available cameras. Nothing and I mean NOTHING is more boring than 3 shots at 180fps that last over a minute in run time. Nothing!

I fear extreme slow motion is going to be 2017's extreme shallow DOF.

Sorry to be a bummer. But I just have to vet my frustrations sometimes.

No problem dusty everyone is entitled to their opinion. Im not a professional in any kind of way just shooting as a hobby just figured to shoot other things rather than cats and dogs which are very popular on yt

To be completely honest I think visually it would be better to shoot 4k 60p and use a form of optical flow slow motion in post. 60p to 180p is only a 3x slow motion which is not a lot on frames already that close together. Most slow motion artifacts come from 24p where there is a huge gap in between each frame. 60p has always done an exceptional job at slow motion. 120fps would be even better since the slow motion only needs to fill in every other frame with an interpolated optical flow frame. 120fps is still some very dramatic slow motion and this way it is true 4k.

Just saying I wouldn't rule it out as a potential option if the aim to to have the sole motion integrated in a 4k project. Resolution and frame rendering wise it would be better and the chances of getting odd artifacts would be minimal.

You're images are fine. Just remember that extended slo-mo is boring. At the most a 180FPS shot should be 3 seconds long.

Haha more like the last few years starting with the 7D then FS700 along with illegal twixtor downloads. But your point is still valid.

Dusty when are we going to see some of your GH5 footage!?

Agreed. Personally I find 60p to be the sweet spot for slow mo most of the time. Slow enough, but not sooo slow to where I'm like "ok, get on with it"
