GH3 GH4 With Shape DSLR cage

Not with this one but the GB series from Photography And Cinema looks much more flexible to me. I have the basic (without rails) for $95, fitted it with a Manfrotto 577 quick release so I can slide any camera with a 501PL plate in our out in seconds. Link below is for the GB-2 (with rails) at $120.

I also have the Honu cage ($99) and keep one of my GH3s in it almost all the time. Link below:

For handheld work I pretty much prefer the GB for it's somewhat wide spaced grips, I get better stability that way. Especially when I put the OMD E-M5 with it's 5 axis IBIS in it. Not quite Steadicam results but getting closer. With the GB series you can get cold shoes, extension arms, etc. that all attach to either non threaded or threaded holes on the top plate.

Be sure and watch the videos. Both products are very sturdy, nothing flimsy about any part of them.

Awesome I will def check this out, especially since they are cheaper than the Wooden Camera cage I was also looking at.

In the P&C GearBox, do you need the height extensions for GH3 with a QR plate? I was able to fit GH2 with QR without the extenders.

It seems that's why I put the height extensions back in. The GH3 would fit without the extensions if you didn't use a quick release adapter, but once I put the Manfrotto 577 quick release on the top surface of the bottom plate it would not quite fit or it was awfully close.

When using the GB cage with the Olympus OMD E-M5 the extensions were not needed but with anything larger you should have them. Yes, the GH2 was small enough that it fit fine without the extensions.

I think it's great that you can order an extra set of extensions to raise the top plate even further if needed. It's a simple but very well thought out system.

Measurements of the cage dimensions with and without extensions are on the Photography And Cinema pages. The extensions are 1 and 1/2 inches and I've seen photos of cages with 2 EXTRA sets installed, I don't know if I would go there but it could work.

But for handheld work I would try to go "more mobile".
