GH4 - Why are people selling them?

It was the first 4k camera for a 'consumer' price. With shallow DOF capabillities!
I'm sure many people bought it just to 'have it'. They shot some video's of their cats and of their surroundings and then realized they actually don't even need it.

We all know, to make a 'DSLR' and especially a M4/3 create great filmic images, that you need to invest a lot of money and (especially) time in it. Composition, expensive f1.8 lenses, etc. Not something the average camera buyer is interested in.
And with a Panasonic kit lens and no expertise or set design whatsoever, the GH4 is just a difficult to use camcorder.

I guess people are taking their loss and try to get a share of their money back to buy something either simpler to use (like a camcorder / gopro) or something more filmic out of the box (larger sensor camera).

And I say, good for us film makers! I'm still running a professional business with GH3 camera's and Speed Boosters and I keep hearing from every client how beautiful the footage looks that we create. Because ultimately the GH3 is more than capable to create wonderful images in the right hands. And it takes lots of time, effort and technical knowledge to become the right hands.

I skipped the GH4 because I was not interested in 4K. I think it looks 'harsh' on people and too digitally. Furthermore, I absolutely need slowmo. If the GH5 gets it right, as in 50fps 4k + an extra stop DR or so, I'm game.

I've got a pair of GH4s, a 5D3 (for Stills gigs), a FS7, & rent ARRIs (usually AMIRA) as needed.

No matter the job the GH4s always come along. I could add Sony A7 variants & ditch the Panasonics, but there's always other compromises that be had. If it weren't for the 12-35/2.8 & 35-100/2.8 I'd probably move on, but combined with a few m43 primes the entire GH4 kit is still so small, & indiscreet, that's it's traveled around the world.

This always happens with cameras like everyone said. The GH4 is great camera for the price but people are probably upgrading. I'd like to upgrade to something myself if there was anything else in the sub $2000 range that could compete.

This.

The combo of the GH4 and the 12-35 and 35-100 are a huge reason I didn't sell the GH4 when I sold my AF100 and HMC150 to buy a DVX200. It makes a great B-cam, and fills a hole in the DVX200's capabilities for me. And it's so freakin' small compared to a S35 sized camera/lens combo...
