It does stop recording at 29 minutes and 59 seconds. The you need to physically press record again to start another 29 minutes and 59 seconds or recording.
Yes, you have to keep re-starting the recording process every 30 minutes, and you will lose a tiny bit of footage in between these re-starts. ( it is NOT seamless )
