GH4 GH4 V-log?

I know a few stills shooters that use hot lights; I don't know why, as it's hell on the talent, and you will never be able to do remote locations easy. I think they do it because it's easier and they never learned how to use a light meter with strobes :undecided.

Lots of high-end photography is done with constant light sources instead of strobes. It's about seeing the subtleties of the light in realtime instead of afterwards on a LCD.

They call it a modeling light for a reason, many strobes have it built in.

...But it's still only an approximation of what the actual strobe light will do. The better flash heads use a frosted pyrex shell so that the light qualities of the modeling-light and the flash-tube are a closer match, but the color qualities of the modeling-light and the flash-tube can still be quite different.

But if you don't drag the shutter, it doesn't matter, as ambient won't show in the exposure. Who shoots stills anymore and doesn't shoot RAW with a color card? Maybe quick turn news our sports.

I know a lot of high end stills shooter and all of us use strobe. Car shooters, celebrity shooters, top end product, portrait, architecture (like myself). We all use strobe. None of us have light meters. None of us use color cards or grey cards. We don't have too, because we use strobes.

Since today's Herb Ritts' Birthday I'll link to his Foundation's Instagram account (Note who they're re-posting).

I haven't had a chance to look thru all the pictures, but be surprised if any were shot with strobes, & know many were lit by HMI or Tungsten

Depends on what strobe system you are using. Most of the larger American strobe units ( like Dynalite, Norman, Speedotron ) will change color as you adjust their power output, where the European units ( like Broncolor, Elinchrom, ProPhoto ) are able to keep their color balance as you change power.

I haven't used small battery operated flash in quite a while, but this color change used to be an issue with small flashes too. ( may not be the case any more )

speedotron doesn't change color.
The best strobe on the market that is affordable is the Paul C. Buff Einstein 640. I use them everyday. They are world units and have two modes. Action and color. In action mode you can freeze liquid and in color mode the color of the unit is consistent from 640 watts to 2.5 watts. Using their cyber commander you can remotely change power to 16 heads. I have 10 of them and use their battery for power. A great light.

They'd better deliver after that last NX-1 firmware update. It added in camera digital image stabilization.

Fix the audio/video sync/delay, new color profiles, maybe 4k 4:2:2 internal recording, maybe things to do with the yagh? Hard to tell what they can really do without knowing what the hardware is really capable of handling.

All that said, better/faster AF like Fuji recently did on the X-T1 is my guess. This was mostly accomplished through code optimization to free up some processor cycles. Another "simple" thing would be different VF markers so you could look at different crops during video work. Might squeeze some different frame rates out too.
