GH4 GH4 on the DJI Ronin.

Nice! People seem to complain about the weight of the Ronin. What do you think? I played around with it at NAB but it had a RED scarlet on it so hard to judge.

I've heard the GH4 was too light to balance on the Ronin, is that true or did you add some extra weight for it to work?

Nice shots. but in the Cadillac shots it appears that the Ronin suffers from pan issues like every other Gimbal. (including the
Movi).

I do have a Kessler quick release on the gimbal tray. That adds some weight and makes the camera easy to dismount.

It is a heavy gimbal and I can't imagine shooting with a RED on it all day. But I walked about 4 miles with it yesterday. Between shots I would just go into briefcase mode and hold it well, like a briefcase.

On the Cadillac shots. I think I had the IS of the lens on. Why not judge that by the pan of the musicians on the pier? The world is not perfect. But pound for pound and with the cost considered the DJI Ronin is a fantastic device.

Keep in mind people. I got this gimbal on Saturday and was up and running with it Sunday morning. It took me 5 minutes to balance. I'm sure that finding the right settings in the App and the shots will be even better.

I'm not judging you at all. You did a great job, and the shots are really beautiful.
I own a gimbal and i used the Movi 10 few times, and i'm just saying that the weak spot
of the gimbals are the pan light movements. In pan gentle movements in most gimbals you
can see mecahnical movements.
each operator should know his own gear, assemble it as good as he can, and be aware of weak spots.
Considering its a new device, you did great.

awesome, i've been curious to see how a gh4 handles on the ronin, as everyone seemed to think the gh4 would be too light. this looks pretty good! keep us posted on how things go, very interested to see if you can further refine the performance, though this looks like a great start.

Thanks, I'll probably add a quick release too, I've got a Ronin reserved, I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

I'm curious if I could use an anamorphic setup fine with this, GH3/4 + SLR Magic Anamorphot.

I've just made a music video with a colleague using the DJI Ronin and GH3. I bought the Ronin, it's heavy but useable.

We just shot a feature-length TV-movie and used the Ronin for 15-20% of our shots (with RED) and have been rather happy with it after testing other gimbals beforehand. Remains to be seen how reliable this thing is in the long run. For the price unbeatable. Especially as it is fast and easy to rig and auto-adjusts. People tend to forget that this processes can be time- and nerve-consuming. Especially nice when combined with a low cost steady-cam type vest.

We actually liked it also a lot as a crane/remote-head. For the finishing shot of the movie we had it hanging on a 90 meter building crane.... nice... ;-)
