GH4 GH4 in 4K records blacks of files

When I set my camera to 4K 3840x2160 30p/24p, it seems to be recording blocks of files rather than one large one as in AVCHD. Is this normal, and is it dropping a frame or two when it does this....thus causing synch problems with other cameras or audio recorders?

Nothing's lost except lots of time in post.

This is the primary complaint I'm getting from clients & should be remedied by Panasonic.

AVCHD also breaks up the footage but contains metadata that can be used to automatically stitch the files back together.

Curious, why is it taking you a significant amount of extra time in post? It's barely affected my workflow. I'm just curious if there's something I'm missing in my own workflow.

Clients are complaining about no way to automatically join the files back together during transcode for editing in FCP 7. On long takes with multiple cameras it's creating a lot of extra work.

My strengths are not in post so appreciate any suggestions.

I can see that, where a client is getting your footage and having to take some time to figure out which files go together. For me where I'm editing my own stuff 90% of the time, I just know which takes go with which. If I'm in doubt, I quickly look at the files around the 4GB limit and assume that that file and the one after it are in the same sequence, but that's me having some experience. Also, I use Premiere so there's no transcoding necessary, so that too probably helps.
