GH4 GH4, get rid of audio levels on screen?

so happy with my GH4, which i mainly use for video. however, tweaking custom settings and such, i see no way of getting rid of the audio level meters on the screen, which are great when doing video but useless for normal pictures. however, the option in the menu is greyed out (in any setting) so i can't change it there.

apparently it is related to some other setting but i can't find it... weird, how to do this?

hints appreciated!

I don't have access to my GH4 right now (sitting in class). But my best guess would be that you have 'Video Priority' mode on for the display.

Do you have Variable Frame Rate set to "On"? This will disable most of the microphone options regardless of what they were set to. Switch Variable Frame off and set it how you want it.

thanks for the replies, but it is not 'video priority", also cycling through 'display' doesnt help (well i can get rid of everything, not just the meters) and the frame rate (variable or not) also makes no difference. with any setting from the setting dial the microphone meter display remains visible... in the menu 'mic level disp' is indeed "on", but also greyed out so i cannot change it.. it makes no sense to have these meters on screen when just taking photographs. weird..!!

When I shoot I like a screen with as few overlays as possible so cycling thru display modes works best. Even with the display set to minimal overlays it's possible to see the shutter speed, aperture, ISO & meter, with a half-press on the shutter.

As Cole pointed out is seems your GH4 has VFR enabled, which in turn disables the microphone, & any associated menus.

If you want to completely disable the microphone overlay...

-Turn the GH4's top dial to the dedicated video mode.

-Go to page 2 of the Motion Picture menu & make sure Variable Frame Rate is off.

-Go to page 5 of the Motion Picture menu & turn Mic Display off.

-Return the GH4's top dial to the desired shooting mode.

Now that's taken care of do your fellow forum members a favor...

I am aware of capitals, thanks.
Anyway, I indicated I have VFR off, and also i -see- mic display, but it is greyed out, so i can't change it.
This counts for any shooting mode, also the pure photography modes where mic display makes no sense at all.

I tried all of the above, with no effect.. Am I the only one with disabled "mic display" option in the menu? (I use firmware 2)

See the Mic Level Limiter (via Motion Picture 6/6) and select ON. Mic Level Disp. settings should now be available.
