GH4 GH4 and auto focus during video

On my GH4 when I press the shutter button half down to grab focus (on auto focus) the screen gets bright then it pulls focus and then goes back to actual view. This shows up in the videos I shoot and I can not find the feature to turn this off. I know how to do this on all of my Sony a7 cameras but can't figure it out on the GH4

Is there a way to turn this off with out setting it to all manual focus. Auto focus is a lot easier (for me) when shooting on my gimbal.

Thanks,

Steve

So let me get this right: You want to be able to auto focus, but you don't want the hunting to show up in video? Or is it that you don't want the brightness change to show up in video?

I tried the tap focus settings via the touch screen and it won't have the bright screen change during focusing. You could flip out your screen, though that would depend on your gimbal, there are models with the motor on the left side which won't let you flip out the screen. Some like the DS1 can be mounted with the motor on the right.

Are you recording internally? When I record internally, the screen didn't get bright if I am in manual mode. I have to retry it hooked to my Atomos and see what happens.

The issue for the OP was when he was in auto focus and he does a half press on the top shutter button to reacquire focus.

I use the camera in 100% manual mode. Except for auto focus. The camera is better at focusing then I am for moving / tracking shots. I have been using the touch screen to get around it for now. I would like to shut it off completely. It shows up on my Atomos too.

Thanks,
Steve.
