GH3 GH3 vs GH2 comparison and review

Thank you very much for the tests. I wonder if it might be possible to get a better Dynamic Range test. I wasn't seeing much of an improvement in the shadow detail with the first one.

I'd love to see an indoor test (no windows), properly exposed to a person's face, with a lot of shadow areas. (Also the same framing and color balance. The difference in those two make a straight comparison more difficult.) I wonder how much better the GH3 can see into those shadows than the GH2.

And since the GH2's Cinema profile is actually the most linear of the bunch, with all others 'adding' something, I do believe that mode should be used for all tests.

Thanks Jim. I will keep that in mind for when I do some more tests in the near future. I find a more noticeable improvement when grading as opposed to right out of the cam.

For now, I have a few GH3 shoots next week that I am prepping for including a music video and a promotional documentary. Hope to update shortly with some more footage.
 
I honestly haven't seen anything so far that makes me want to upgrade to a GH3. I think a hacked GH2 is still the best bang for the buck. Yes, the 1080 60p is nice but I have that with the AF100. The sharpness and dynamic range so far don't seem that great of an improvement IMO. Not enough to make me want to upgrade or pay double for a GH3.

Same here...my second GH2 arrives today. Will reconsider the GH3 next year.
Loving my GH2s !
