Was shooting a music video recently and wanted to try some slow motion effect with the GH3 and its frame rate setting. I used the <----40% setting along with Olympus 12mm lens on steadicam with GH3. I was trying to get that slow motion effect at the end of the Source Code film:

This was what I got:

I suppose you can also shoot at 1080 60p and then use something like twixtor.

Anyone got some cool effects with GH3 and slow motion?

I was trying to set up a function button for slo-mo but there is'nt one. Pity. Hate going into the menu's to do this when all my other cams just have an external button for over-cranking.

I can't see a reason to ever use the built in slow-mo--why not always shoot 1080/60 (if you think you might want to slow down) and then retime using something like Cinema Tools? I know it's nice to play it back in slow-mo immediately, but it's also nice to have sound...

Here's a 1080/60 shot I retimed to 30. Not the most obvious use for slow-mo, but helped. Damn that camera car shadow...

I almost always shoot slomo in-camera as opposed to retiming in post as it can be crucial to watch playback in some scenarios, plus makes it easier for the editors to identify slomo footage during post.

Good points, thanks. (Though with a laptop on set, retiming only takes a few minutes.) Flagging for editors does make sense--didn't occur to me since I'm almost always my own editor.
