GH3 GH3 Picture profile positive numbers!

I just took out my new GH3 for a test drive, really like it so far. However, it was a dismal, overcast day, almost monochrome to the naked eye and not much contrast, so I found myself pushing the contrast and saturation into the positive a bit, and liked the result. I've looked at loads of picture profiles for the GH3 here and elsewhere and whilst there's some considerable variation due to differing needs and tastes, one thing that is consistent is that no settings go beyond zero - none that I've come across anyway. Is there any technical reason why I shouldn't go above zero? Am I creating problems for myself further down the line (e.g. grading)? Should I do the pushing in post?

Thanks for any thoughts you might have about this.

I think the general consensus is that the more you push parameters on camera, the more you are "baking" a look into the final output which would degrade faster if you wish to change it in post.

If you are confident in the look and don't wish to change it later, nothing wrong with getting something that is pleasing to the eye straight from the camera. On the flip side...it's probably a good idea to shoot a less baked image if you would like to finish a look in post for all of your clips.

I say experiment and find what works best in each scenario.

Thanks very much for your advice. It makes sense. I will certainly do a lot of experimenting!
