I had a vision for these overhead shots in this promo shoot. I couldn't get it to work with my C300 and EF lenses. I was bummed and almost threw in the towel after testing out the widest lenses I have which is the Canon 16-35. I grabbed my GH3 and Lumix 7-14 and mounted it to the jib. Money!!!! It worked perfect! It's funny how often I find myself grabbing the GH3 for this kind of stuff. Love it!

Thanks! I like to float the camera on the tripod. It gives it a consistent look and adds energy. The Last few shots in the newsroom scene are all handheld with the Canon 24-05.

Beatiful work. Yesterday at Photo Plus in NYC an engineer rep I always see and speak to at NY shows told me that the tv series Revolution is using the GH3 for this kind of shots and the producers love the results.

Nice Erik.
Ironically I just responded a moment ago to a question about cutting GH3 and Canon footage together.
If anything the GH3 footage looks a bit more detailed but I'm sure it has to do with deep focus on the jib moves vs the shallower technique on the C300.
I find myself flying the GH3 around on a small jib because it's so easy to do and get great footage quickly.

I wouldn't doubt it. It's a great camera and I don't think twice about using it.

I was pretty confident that I could get them to match fairly well and viewers will never know the difference. I didn't have to do any heavy lifting in the edit just tried to get the balance close and it just worked. The Lumix 7-14 is such a great lens. It's expensive but worth it.

Works great for us at times for tv-movies. GH3 really is a nice extra to have on a set and for sneak shots and sometimes even establishers. And it takes photos as well....:-)

Nicely done, Erik.

Nice!
GH3 looks a bit different due to a gamma, more black there, and C300 yields little more yellow, GH3 more purple..
I find shootin, mixing C100 with DSLR, better not to use Clog, WDR with custom profile better, imho.

Great promo video!
I am debating between the 7-14 vs just getting the Rokinon 7.5mm fisheye. Such a huge price difference and I'm not sure I'd use the zoom of the Lumix. Thoughts?
