GH3 Gh3 ERROR

Hey guys, don't know if this where I post this but I'm pretty upset with my GH3 right now.

So I basically shot a long take of a person doing announcements for my church and I know it splits up the file into multiples.

I ended up having to shoot another long continuous take the next day and was in such a rush I just kept the footage on my card and was going to dump both today. (I'm using the fastest Sandisk Extreme Pro 64gb.)

Anyways, I go into dump the card tonight and it looks like my Gh3 just overwrote half of the first file of the announcements. I'm basically missing half of my first shoots footage like it made the split vanish. It also ends abruptly, not in a moment where I would accidentally stop recording or something.

Has anyone experienced this? My only explanation is that when you push the Gh3 to shoot lots of continuous shooting it can have errors.

The moral of the story is dump your cards for every shoot, but that's kinda ridiculous. I'm not a hundred percent sure it didn't just have an error and stop recording during the shoot. But I usually would notice a non blinking red dot on my monitor.

Thanks in advance,
Shannon

Without obvious camera error, sounds like a card fault to me. I've shot many 1/2-1hr. continuous performance takes with my GH3 without problems. Do you re-format the card in-camera after dumping your files?

A simple test of the system with the same card would be an hour's take of a digital clock display (including seconds) and check the 4GB clips for continuity...

Hey Pete,

Thanks for the reply, so the weird thing is that the 2nd shoot footage looks totally fine. I have 8 4GB clips and they all look normal.

Is it possible the GH3 accidentally rolled back on file names and rewrote over my first shoots 4gb split? The gap from the two shoots was about a full day. The file numbers act as if I never filmed enough for it to split but I'm missing half the footage.

Hope that makes sense,
Shannon
