The best deal for the GH2, immediately after its release in late 2010, was from Panasonic Direct. But their online ordering process literally drove strong men and women crazy at that time.
If I were going to go GH2, I'd set myself a target price point of $499 and wait it out. Unless Panny runs out of cameras, which is highly doubtful, I expect we'll see that price point and possibly even lower still. When the GH1s hit super blow out Panny was selling them via Panny Direct for $300 a copy. Panny built GH1s for at least 4 months after the GH2 was announced. Had Japan not had the tsunami, we'd see even lower prices on GH2s already. But Panny suffered months with no inventory so I don't expect the same sized glut of old cams this time around.
If I were gonna get a gh2 I would straight up pay market price. I never tell anyone to wait. The fact it, tech deappreciates very quickly, so if you need a cam, buy one. Think of the missed shots if you wait.
This camera wend down in price already pretty dramatically, so I wouldn't wait any longer to buy it. If you decide to wait, I would wait for the GH3 (you may end up waiting a full year), not the GH2.
