Ok, finally reading this topic http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?310225-LCD-changes-brightness-when-recording i have found someone having same problem of me:i think it should be an annoying softyware BUG. I am fighting with it since weeks, but at first i have discovered it takins stills. Here what happen: Wheel of Mode in M(manual picture), Focus in Manual. Constant preview ON. NOw, i enter FOCUS ASSIST function. This Function by default it is in 4X mode. Then, i get out FOCUS ASSIST by pressin F3 and have the same problem the author of topic is reporting. The preview on LCD it is not anymore responding correctly to adjustment of exposure. Specifically, every shutter speed slower than 60 (50, 40 ,25 ecc) will not affect anymore the preview, while pic will come out correctly according to setting. So constant preview get spoiled once entered-exited ASSIST FOCUS. BUT ONLY if you enter focus assist in 4X. And stay spoiled until you switch off the camera or enter FOCUSS ASSIST and change it to 5X. INFACT IF you set assist focus at 5X or 10X there is no problem at all. I thought it was only for stills mode this trouble, but Yesterday i have noticed it got it in video mode, and i remembered of this topic. So now i think that it is a bug of software, while previously could think was a problem with my camera, as seems noone else had it. I have been to assistance, they could not help, saying to wait next firmware, but as i insist they promise to take care of the issue and investigate, also with the main Panasonic. So if other owner discover the same issue and start to complain we might succeed sooner. Looks like noone complain, but i think it is something that people may not notice in some way.... So I Ask every GH3 Owner to test this and start a complain to Panasonic to have it fixed.

I have not encountered this problem. CONSTANT PREVUE remains set to ON at all times, I work mainly in Manual mode for stills but occasionally use A (aperture priority) for speed. For Motion Picture I never use anything but Manual mode and CONSTANT PREVUE remains set to ON for that at all times.

I normally have AF+FOCUS ASSIST set on my GH3 so I mostly enter FOCUS ASSIST by adjusting the focus ring after autofocus (it kicks in at the default 4X setting and when I let go of the focusing ring it goes back to normal view and CONSTANT PREVUE continues to function.

Try resetting the camera to all defaults, then go through the menus and configure each item to work as you want. After this if you still have the problem the camera needs to go back to Panasonic b

i have done it already, also i have applied a firmware update. I have checked twice Panasonic assistance, they keepe it first time 5 days and the second time the same.they could not help. Also i am in contact with Panasonic Italy and they can't help. What they did last, they recorded the issue and send to Panasonic main to investigate. The issue reported in the other topic it is the same. So may be some machine have it, some not. But it is not a hardware problem. At least they said they have mde all test and it is fine.ANd it does really look like a firmware bug, may be occuring under certain circumstances or series

just tomake sure,as it took for me a while to understand the issue, as acually constant preview once exted focus assist still work, if you not working in certain cirucmstances you don't notice. have you tried once exited 4x to change the shutter speed to very slow value till 1 second or 2 ormore and check if the preview reflect correctly the cheange?because if you work at 1/60 or faster you might not notice

When you check the firmware revision on your GH3 body, what revision does it say that you now have? You fail to mention here how current your firmware is.

Also, what lens are you using with it? If it is a Panasonic lens, have you checked for a firmware update for it? You really leave too much information out in your message.

I cannot certainly duplicate this problem that you describe.

My GH3 has firmware 1.2 for the body, and also 1.2 version for my lens too: the 12-35mm f/2.8

.

i have latest version of firmware for body 1. 2 and it would do the issue also with 1.1. i have latest version of lens 14 45 and 45 175 and it does it with both, so i suppose it is not a lens related issue, neither firmware version related. that's why i did notmentioned. i have investigated since a while and i have come to conclusion that if it i....s it is a bug related to firmware in general and may be certain model of body. that why i just ask to try to duplicate, as there are no much other varibales to determine it

but in the link i have posted, the other topic talk about this issue exactly.that occurs to me when entering movie mode from m mode wiht the issue active(after entered focus assist at 4x). in that case i have the same issue the users here described, in video mode

Your entire premise here is faulty and invalid, as the users in that that other thread don't even make any reference at all to using the Focus Assist feature.

I certainly cannot duplicate any problem at all with my GH3, which is a North American English language camera.

What language is your firmware in? Are you also located in North America? Perhaps there is a bug specific to a specific region and/or language version of firmware.

.

You say that is faulty and invalid because you don't know a bit of the issue. But for me having dealed with it for long is different, and i can understand something that you might not see. The user did not specified focus assist, but illustrate a fault which is the consegunce of other issue, and could be using focus assist abd he is not able to link the two episode as he his now satosfied with constatnt preview off, which will never be for me instead. The soltuion to switch off the constant preview is compatible with the my issue. Also i might understand that perhaps the user isn't so much experienced with managing the software of his machine, and certainly as well as he can't identify a solution he might not be able to say when it happen and replicate it. So , for what i understand that description is absolutely compatible with the issue i am expereincing and i use it a possible resource for investigate. I have firmware 1.2 as i said already and i am located in italy. DOn't think there is different Language for firmware as it is a unique download from Panasonic. What can be is a different series of hardware that react different to same software, or i am thinking that it might be a part of software that remain fixed in the camera adn that may varie between countries, and that could be different
