My Panasonic GH3 decked out with an Atomos Ninja-2 and a Tascam DR-60D. Lens is a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 (Nikon mount) with a Metabones Speed Booster adapter. Cage is a P&C GearBox with Top Handle.
i am curios.with a setup like this, how you carry the Whole thing?i see ypu have 2 handle on the side and one on the top, but i bet ypu don't use only the two side one...you use the rig for soulder with it?also, can you put all the cage on a tripod when needed?
Not as big as you think, cage is only 10" x 10". Weighs 8 1/2 lbs with the heavy Tokina 11-16mm lens which is 1 1/4 lbs by itself. With the Panasonic 25mm f1.4 lens it weighs 7 1/4 lbs. This was weighed with a package scale that uses 1/4 lb increments.
Very easy to carry around with those hand grips and I can mount the whole cage on my VariZoom DV Media Rig and shoot for hours with it on my shoulder because of the abdominal support with spring loaded suspension pod, even can hold it with one hand on my shoulder. On the DV Media Rig, there is a mount right above the left grip so I move the Ninja-2 down to that mount so it lines up with my eyes. That total weight also included the bottom Manfrotto quick release plate that I allows me to quickly mount everything onto the DV Media Rig or tripod. I actually add a Sony CLM-V55 8" HD monitor when on a tripod since the Atomos Ninja-2 has an HDMI loop thru.
The Top Handle can easily be removed to reduce bulk/weight if needed.
Certainly nothing like what this guy is experiencing:
Nice, relatively compact set up. I sometimes lust for a bigger "pro" camera, but after a few hours of shooting I'm reminded of the portability and ease of use my GH3 and cage/rig afford me.
Here are some BTS shots, shot with a Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera, of my GH3 rig. I added a Sony CLM-V55 LCD monitor for this shoot and used an Olympus 45mm f1.8 lens at 1080 60P f2.
