GH3 GH3 and Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED

Bought a used one just recently and it's absolutely superb as far as I can say - did not really give it a go yet. Use it either with a Novoflex adapter or since Friday with a Speedbooster, changing it into a f 2.0 55 to 140 mm equivalent, if my calculation is right.

It's quite big and heavy but seems to be very well build. Image is breathing when focus is pulled and front element moves but within the casing. So an attached polarising filter will not rotate. And as the front does not extend also while zooming, no problem with a matte box.

Especially with the speedbooster this should be interesting, giving me a 2.0 / 2.8 55 to 200 range to a fair price if you get one that is technically ok.

Not yet - would have been going out with the speedbooster and three long lenses with Nikon F mount (Zeiss 100, Nikkor 80-200 and Sigma 170 - 500) but catched a fat cold at the Berlinale.... maybe end of the week.....

Mark,

While this was shot with a GH2 rather than a GH3, I used a 80-200 2.8 and a M43 adapter. The the single kid and the long shots with the three thugs walking towards the camera were shot with the combination. From 0-14 seconds in: https://vimeo.com/79448593

Great lens, but big lens on the GH2/3. Lens support needed.

Thanks for posting. That was nice work.
Thanks for the kind words.

My compression skills don't do the lens justice. It's very sharp and quite a deal compared to it's contemporaries. Also, it still auto focuses pretty quickly on Nikon bodies. It's a keeper :-).
