GH2 GH2 White Balance Shift???

Hi everyone, first time posting here a question but I've been lurking around for a while.

I am experiencing what I call White balance shifting during the recording and I can't understand what's causing it. Needless to say that's wasting a lot of time and energy fixing it in post.

My setup is stock firmware, 1080/24p, 1/50, Smooth profile with Contrast and sharpening at -2, Custom white balance, light is controlled but not 100%, I had it happening to me indoors

What I see is a drifting from a blu-ish tint to an orange tint while recording, I used the 14-140mm in this case.

Here it is in a 20 sec clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DHsfoYNS-U

If anybody has seen or experienced this I would appreciate your input. Thanks

Lots of info around on this. A quick search will bring it all up. No solution found as far as I know.

clearly not the same issue. you must have auto wb on. the "lot of info around this" refers to the white balance changing when you press record.

I have noticed color shifts on two of my GH2s. I use all the typical 1080/24p settings, full manual and manual white balance (not custom or auto) and encountered color shifting during recording. Not so much a white balance issue. What I have noticed is during recording (not after I hit the record button, while I'm already rolling) I have seen skin tones shift from a decent tones to magenta to a greenish tint then back, mainly in the shadow areas. This is seen in both 5600 and 3200 k lighting situations most prominently using the 14-140 usually above 400 ISO. It might be due to spill light entering the lens at a funky angle but after imported into FCP, the color shift is still apparent. This is not the LCD color shift. If I didn't dump the footage I would have posted it.

I always manually set the color balance using the "degrees Kelvin" interface, so in a tungsten lit environment I might have the camera set to 3000 degrees Kelvin, where outside in daylight I might be using 5400 degrees Kelvin. The exact color temperature will vary depending on the lighting I am shooting with.

maybe someone can confirm but I think this is related to using incorrect shutter speed for the frame rate your shooting, gives the footage a slow pulsing colour shift

thanks everyone for your input
Indeed, I am not talking about the greenish tint on LCD once you press the record button. I have that as well but don't mind it anymore.
The ISO was 640 or 800 when I noticed the issue.
About the incorrect shutter speed, I am using 1/50 for 1080p/24 24Mbps setting so that shouldn't cause the issue.
I have used a custom white balance set using a white board, not the color temperature. I will try that next time.

Unfortunately, this issue is not occurring all the time and I'm struggling to understand what's causing it.

wait, so you're not manually putting in the color temperature? that's probably your problem right there. either set it to 3200k or 5500k depending on your lighting.

yes, i have used the custom WB (you can store up to 4). I will definitely use the color temperature next time and report back. Thx
