GH2 Gh2 vs new g6?

I am selling my canon 7d because I prefer my cheaper gh2 and also film a lot of live events where the 12 minute cut off on the 7d is killing me... So would y'all recommend another gh2 or a Panasonic g6? Which will get the better video quality and will the 2 cams match up well together? All thoughts and opinions welcome!

i also don't see the lens mount type on the g6... Would it work with my gh2 lenses or what would I need to use?

G6 lens mount is the same as the GH2. They essentially have the same sensor so video quality should be fairly similar..the newer processing may help the G6 in some areas. Also the G6 has focus peaking, 1080 60P, a better touch LCD and a better VF, if those things matter.

If you're going to use a lot of slow motion and aren't too concerned about the hack - the G6 is the way to go. Both options definitely have their advantages.

The one big drawback to the G6 is no live HDMI out while recording, which looks like Panasonic is protecting the GH3's turf.

Pixel peeping is a tough mistress. There are a lot of incredible options available, or are about to become available in the next few months. I have to remind myself that in the end of the day, that perfect image is not the half of what it takes to show that "content is king".

I'm interested in the G6 with the 12-35 f/2.8 lens specifically because it is about half the weight of my current Canon setup with a way higher spec level. The ability to do 24mm - 2880mm focal length with only two lenses (12-35mm Lumix and a vintage Nikkor 600mm AIS ED) seems too good to be true. Ultralight weight for my jib pole stabilizer that I can run out to 10 or 15' with full focus tracking and IS. Focus Peaking for the manual lens. ETC to bring in totally natural wildlife that have no idea you're there. 1080-60p for slowing down that action when needed. On paper it has all the goods! Here's to hoping that it's image holds up as well as samples appear to.

Now if they would just do one that size with 4k hahahahahahaha

Cheers,
Pete

FWIW, I did see a mention on the digitalcamerainfo G6 review a claim that the buttons were "mushy" and rested "flat" against the camera. Although they claimed the build of the G6 body was good, the buttons/controls may be a difference in handling versus the GH2. Subtle or major difference, we'll have to see.

The G6 may be more of a throwaway camera versus the higher-priced GH2. I did try a G5 demo at a store and noticed the build was very cheap. Hopefully the G6 is better in that regard.

Not a deal-breaker, just mentioning for this comparison.
