GH2 vs.7D vs. 60D.

not a formal prelude to my testing. but i went out and about this afternoon with my 60D + 18-135 shooting 1080/30 (the mode supposedly better for avoiding moire) and still found it pretty easy to encounter moire on extremely common environmental objects, like walls and fences... : (

Did someone tell you that 30p was better for Moire? It has nothing to do with frame rate, and everything to do with the amount of pixels (1080p @ 24, 25, 30, it doesn't matter). It is cause by the encoder skipping entire lines off your sensor to get an 18mpix image down to the roughly 2mpix required for 1080p.

Understanding why it happens will you prepare shots that don't exhibit the problem- see my explanation here:

no. you and various other folks have said that shooting 1080 (as opposed to 720) would reduce the propensity of moire.
if what i shot today is reduced propensity, id hate to see it in full effect ; )

GH2, definitely.
I have a GH2, and have used my buddies 60D on shoots.... just the absence of crazy moire alone makes the GH2 worth it, and then all the other benefits are just gravy.
