ok, im slowly starting to get my testing gear in place. here is the first quickie side by side, as "apples to apples" as possible. GH2 vs 60D. i know, youre gonna say "MORE FRIGGIN FLOWERS?!?!?" but it was getting dark, its been a long day and it was the best quick scene i could come up with in the backyard.

can you tell which is one is from which camera?
they are labeled "DSLR:_" in the lower right of each...

nope.
a: 60d
b: gh2

but here is where it gets complicated.
the 60d is using the kit 18-135
the gh2 is using a rayqual>nikon adapter with an older manual nikon 35mm f2

i know thats not really an apples to apples situation. but let me explain...

this is my second gh2. i absolutely hated everything i shot with the first one (stills and video) but i was using the panasonic 14-140 and 20mm pancake lenses.
i wanted to hope that some of the blame fell on the glass. so, now that i have some more time to test. i'm going put the two through some paces to see if i can get a more pleasing "aesthetic joy" from the gh2 if i put some more time-tested photo glass on the front of it.

so far im hopeful.

i have a 60d a gh2 and an sgblade that im going to be doing some side by sides with over the coming couple of weeks.

Well, GH2 is a step up from GH1 in more ways than megapixels (wheater or not it's a step up to cram more pixles onto a tiny surface), and regarding the amount of information you can get out, especially if sticking to RAW, GH2 can surely compete with Canon asp-c's. It rather comes down to all the other stuff, like a somewhat serious photographer invests in Canon with Canon glass, etc.

The big step up for a photographer is to go fullframe, stuff just fundamentally changes for skintones, depth & just the feel and richness of the image (not to be confused with a crappy so called "1080p" video, btw...)

I've been using both GH1/2 for some simple stuff like taking pics for ebay auctions etc, but I would not go out and "be a photographer" with them.
