GH2: Shutter Priority issue in movie mode...clicking sound as GH2 compensates

Has anyone else encountered this?

Just got my GH2, body only, yesterday from Panasonic Direct. Shooting with the 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens.

Usually I shoot movies in Manual mode. But when I try shooting in Shutter Priority mode, I can hear my GH2 make a faint clicking sound as it adjusts the other settings to add light. Is this normal?

I don't recall this on my GH1. I also don't hear that faint clicking sound in Aperture mode or Program mode, just in Shutter Priority mode when shooting movies on the GH2.

My reason for selecting Shutter Priority was in run and gun situations with the GH2 where I would have to pan from a well lit scene to a dark scene. I would want the Shutter fixed at 1/50 and have the GH2 compensate with Auto ISO and Auto Iris. Because I'm shooting 24p, I need the shutter to stay at 1/50 and have the camera handle the rest silently.

That clicking sound is really quite audible.

Maybe there's a setting I'm missing???

Off course it's Normal. The Aperture of 20mm Pancake makes noise while you adjust. It just that you don't feel it when you do this by rotating Front Dial. In Shutter Priority Mode, shutter speed is fixed, so the light is adjusted by the Aperture. And since it's not adjusted by you, you feel the Sound, this happen only in Movie Mode. It's totally natural. Don't Worry!

Phew! Thanks, was beginning to worry. The UPS truck had left my GH2 order outside my garage door on Friday. I was beginning to think the severe cold (I live in NH) had done something to the GH2 mechanics. Thanks for putting my fears to rest.

:)
