GH2 GH2 Recording Length and File size

I shot a video today with my GH2 it was 31min long, When capturing footage can you only import a specific length of footage before it cuts it off or a specific file size before it cuts off, the file ended up be 4.21 GB but it only shows 15min of footage. Any help would be great

Thanks

You need to use an editor that can read meta-data and can properly import AVCHD files.

I use the "Device Explorer" tool in Sony Vegas Pro which will automatically stitch all of the file sections together.

Premiere CS has the same kind of import tool.

What program are you using?
For final cut pro 7, you can download a plugin to make it compatible with avchd.

I Have both Final Cut 7 and Final Cut X. Been working with X just to see if its good enough for what I want to do. Something that I noticed when importing into Final Cut X was that if I shot something took the SD card out and Captured from it, Final Cut X did it fine, but If I took the same card and shot on it again without formatting it, Final Cut X would not see the Card at all and I would have to use a 3rd party program like clip wrap. that may have been the issue I was running into besides it only capturing half the clip.

I have been using fcpX too and have not run into this issue. Usually. I don't import from the card itself. I make a DMG image of the whole card (disk utility) and import from the mounted image. It is the safest way I have found. Since the P2 era and the issue if you were to touch the file structure I'm always trying to keep the integrity of the media in my workflow. About fcpX. Have you noticed an unusual amount o ram used when editing avchd? And how is your playback ( I get slowdowns and framedrops even afrer renders)
