GH2 Reboots after turning camera on (Please help!)

Hi there,

I just purchased a brand new GH2, and I think I may have a faulty camera. For some reason, every time I turn on the camera, it seems to reboot a few times before becoming active. It's highly annoying, and I think it may be a symptom of other problems with the camera. I recently recorded a long interview with the camera, only to have the file be completly corrupt on the card.

Here's a video of the problem:

This does not happen when the memory card is not in the slot. I have tried 4 different cards all different brands, and they all have the same problem. Is my camera broken? Has anyone else seen something like this?

Here's another movie that shows even more problems:

I reformat the card and all the settings in the camera. Take some pictures, then took some video. When stopping taking video, the camera rebooted, and corrupted the video on the card. When I turned the camera off and on again, it reboots twice before becoming usable.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Id say call panasonic. To me it sounds like a SD card slot problem, but I know nothing about electronics, just going off your description.

My GH2 does not do this. The multiple reboots would be an annoyance, but the loss/corruption of files indicates a major problem. I would get the camera replaced/repaired as soon as possible.

Return to sender. My first GH2 had an issue with not recognizing the battery it came with as a genuine Panny battery. I returned it and the replacement works perfectly with all three of the batteries that I tried with the original one.

Thanks guys,

I called Panasonic and I have to ship my camera to them for them to look at. Hopefully this doesn't take more than a month to turn around :)
