Hello and welcome myself back to DVX. I will be comparing the Canon 7D and GH2 soon when and if I have time. I went and got my GH2 in Thailand, yep, Thailand. DMC GH2H 14-140 kit "PAL" S.E. Asian version with English interface.
-Very fast photo and video auto focus. Amazing silent focusing with zero audio noise. In my opinion the Touch screen selective focus is the greatest focusing system ever invented. AF-C and AF-S focus seems to be faster than the Canon 7D. Overall breath taking fast auto focus, maybe even better than pro-sumer camcorder.
- Battery is very good. In 24p 24H mode I filled up a 16gb class 2 card (about 1hr 20min of video) and still had about 20 minutes of power left. No heating issue at all. Good to hear Class 2 SDHC works flawlessly. I bought a cheap 16gb class 2 for $15 online.
-Crisp clear LCD. Very useful info on-screen display and of course touch screen menu.
-I seem to like the low light noise even though the 14-140 is F4.0-5.8. Very Panasonic gamma look when shooting the 24p Cinema. The "Smooth" look also is amazing with skin tone.
-Very very portable. Probably the best hybrid and the best "camcorder" on the planet as of writing. The Photo strength on the GH2 has potential. What's holding it back is to come up with a very sharp glass to resolve the pixel.
-fyi. Generic battery will not work on the GH2. I tried it with an Ebay battery! Test it out before you buy.
