GH2 questions: 30p and continuous autofocus

I just bought a new GH2 and, as far as I can tell, it came with the 1.1 firmware. Should I be able to shoot in 30p? If so, how?

Also, how does continuous AF work? I can't seem to get it to respond with either lens I have (14-42mm and 35-100mm). I've got it turned on in the menu, and I believe I have the Focus mode lever and Auto focus mode dial in the correct positions (AF tracking and AFC). What am I missing?

In the CREATIVE MOVIE menu select HBR (High Bit Rate), that's also 30p but in a 60i stream.

AF tracking does not function in Motion Picture mode, so that is probably what is killing Continuous Autofocus. You have it on in the menu, the focus mode switch needs to be in CAF, autofocus mode set to Face Detect, and that should do it with those two lenses.

However I don't know if you can count on it. If there is anything with contrast in the background I get a "pumping" action as the autofocus continually shifts between the subject and the background. So for now I've given up on CAF.

What I do find useful is once I focus on a face, Face Detect attempts to keep that face in focus as long a most of the face is visible to the camera. If the subject turns away it begins to "hunt" focus. But as long as the face is turned somewhat to the camera it functions as a kind of pseudo follow focus.
